2010/11
Viki Patterson - President

Hey guys!! I'm Viki and this year I am a third year Marine Biology student. I am an Ocean Diver currently training for my Sports Diver. I began diving in summer 2007 but have done much more recently and hope to keep this up throughout the next academic year so I hope I will see you all out on the trips!!

As President for this year, I am responsible for ensuring our club committee works together and with the union to keep everything running smoothly! I am happy to chat and answer any questions you have about the running of the club itself.

I am always up for a laugh so will see you around on all our fantastic socials!! Happy Diving!! xxx
Diving Officer - Cathy Boorer

Hey, I’m Cathy, the Diving Officer. I’m currently studying for a PGCE in Secondary Science, which my experience as an instructor helps out a lot with!

I’ve been diving for years (didn’t really have a choice – my parents chucked me in the Med with an aqualung on me when I was 5!).

I’ve been all over the world – my favourite dive so far has got to be cave diving in the cenotes in Mexico, but messing about with UPDUC in Lanzarote has to be a contender for favourite dive trip as well!

I’m in charge of all diving safety within the club, any planned trip ultimately goes through me. I’m currently a BSAC Advanced Diver and Open Water Instructor, so despite my reputation for faffing, I can actually help out with a lot of questions you may have about diving or training.

Secretary - Collette Raine

Hi, I'm Collette. I'm currently in my 3rd year studying Architecture, and I'm finishing off the last few things to be a fully fledged Ocean Diver.

I'm the Secretary of the Club, which means I keep you guys informed about the comings and goings of the club, and also I plan all the fundraisers we hold for charity and for the club. Let me know if you have any awesome fundraising ideas!
Treasurer - Simon Eastham

Hey, I’m Simon Eastham the Treasurer. I’m in my second year studying Biomedical Science. I had never been diving before I joined the club, but since I started diving with the club I have loved every minute of my dives. There is a great atmosphere in the dive club and lots of lovely people, great socials and good times!!

Since joining the club I have qualified as a BSAC Ocean Diver and will now work towards my next qualification. As treasurer I will be looking after all the money in the club kitty, making sure we get the most out of the money and keeping the club going. So if you have any questions about the financial side of the club don’t hesitate to ask, I can usually be found at the pub on a Tuesday!

Membership Secretary - Josh Hilton-Grange

Hi my name is Josh and I am a third year Marine Biology student and the UPDUC Membership Sec.

I joined dive club in my first year at freshers' and I can honestly say some of the best times I've had at university have been with the dive club.

Theres nothing like diving and a hobby that helps your studies is great too. Couple this with a great social atmoshphere and well that's UPDUC.

I look after all the membership details of all the members as well as liasing with BSAC about membership. If you have any membership enquiries feel free to give me a shout.
Training Officer - James Melrose

Hey guys! I'm James and I’ve just gone into my Second year of Uni. I’m your Training Officer this year. I’m studying Geology. I joined the club last year and never looked back. It’s been a fun ride all the way through this year and I had an awesome time, so I thought I would give something back by becoming TO.

I qualified as a BSAC Ocean Diver last year and I’m currently doing my Sports Diver Training. I’ve only been diving a few times in open water but looking forward to expand my horizons on the diving front a lot more this year.

As Training Officer I’ll be helping you guys along with your training sessions, I’ll organise pool sessions and open water training, so all you need to do is ask.

My other hobbies, apart from diving, include: Photography, amateur film production, playing the guitar and gaming. I like to think I’m generally easy going and fun to be around.

Looking forward to see you guys in the pool and the pub!!!
Advanced Training Officer - Paul Offord

Hey, I’m Pablo; I joined the club in 2003 whilst studying at the University of Portsmouth and after seven fantastic years of diving and meeting some of my best friends, I’m still actively involved in the club.

I am currently a BSAC Sports Diver and Assistant Dive Instructor but am not too far off being a Dive Leader.

As Advanced Training Officer I am responsible for all diver development beyond the basic diver levels. I am also responsible for inter dive club communication and relationships, so if there is a skills development course you would like to attend or you just want to progress your diving range come and say hello.

Equipment Officer - Holly Armstrong

Hello, I’m Holly the Equipment Officer. I’m in my third year studying Marine Biology and have been diving with UPDUC since my first year. I love being in the club; the people are awesome and the diving is just as amazing. It’s the most unique experience you could ever have!

It’s my job to look after the club kit. I will make sure it’s all in good condition, serviced and stored in our lovely new lock up.

If you need any help or any kit to hire, I’m the person to ask, so please do!
Boat Officer - Wade Taylor

Hey!, I’m Wade, this year’s Boat Officer! It’s coming up to 2 years now that I’ve been in the club and am a qualified BSAC Ocean Diver, now doing my Sports Diver training!

I’m now in my 3rd year at University, doing a BSc in Digital Media (Boring!, but hey it’s a degree!) Joining the club was one of the best decisions I’ve made during my time at uni, everyone is very welcoming and for sure a great fun bunch!

This year I shall be trying hard in getting the club RIB, Zulu Warrior out as much as possible, let me know if you want to go for a wet n wild ride! (Especially with me at the wheel as some club members will know :D) No worries, I will be doing my RYA Level 2 Powerboat course very soon! Apart from this I will generally assist with setting the boat up, launching, general maintenance etc.

I look forward to meeting you all this year!
